We plan the adjustment of your nose shape at the Deutsches Nasenzentrum® of Klinik am Seestern in Düsseldorf with your natural facial features in mind. The specialist clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery has its own operating theatres and patient rooms: consultation, procedure, the nights afterwards and the follow-up appointments all take place under one roof.

The clinic is on the left bank of the Rhine in Lörick, in the Am Seestern office district near the B7. The U77 runs directly from the main station to the Am Seestern stop, and you can park on site free of charge. From Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Neuss and the surrounding area, the journey to the follow-up appointments is short.

Common wishes when adjusting an Arab nose shape

  • Wish for a lower or straighter nasal bridge

  • Wish for a finer, narrower nasal tip

  • Wish for a nose shape that better matches your own aesthetic ideas, or for freer nasal breathing

What is meant by the adjustment of Arab nose shapes?

The adjustment of Arab nose shapes is a form of ethnic rhinoplasty. It takes into account the anatomical features that are common in people of Arab origin, such as a high nasal bridge, a pronounced nasal tip and sometimes a broader nasal base. These features are part of individual and ethnic identity; some patients nevertheless want to change some of them, for aesthetic or functional reasons.

The aim is a nose that suits the rest of your facial features without blurring the ethnic characteristics. At the same time, functional problems such as obstructed nasal breathing can be treated. Which change is aimed for is determined by your wishes and the anatomical conditions, which are discussed in the consultation.

Which features do patients often want to change?

The reasons for a nose correction are individual. Frequently mentioned ones are:

  1. High nasal bridge: A pronounced nasal bridge shapes the profile. Some patients would like a reduction of the nasal bridge.

  2. Pronounced nasal tip: A striking or drooping nasal tip can be perceived as too prominent in relation to the other facial features. This often gives rise to the wish for a refinement of the nasal tip.

  3. Broad nasal base: Some patients find the nasal base too broad and would like a narrower nasal base.

  4. Functional complaints: A crooked nasal septum or narrowed nasal passages can cause breathing difficulties. They can be treated together with an aesthetic correction.

Aims of adjusting the Arab nose shape

  • Improvement of nasal breathing by correcting a curved nasal septum or narrowed nasal passages

  • Relief of sinus complaints, insofar as they are connected with obstructed nasal breathing

  • Balancing structural asymmetries to improve nasal function and symmetry

  • Modification of the nasal bridge, nasal tip or nasal base according to your wishes while preserving the ethnic characteristics

What options are there for treating an Arab nose shape?

Which technique is suitable depends on the features of the nose and on your wishes. The common methods include:

What is the procedure for adjusting an Arab nose shape?

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

First consultation and planning. In the consultation, your wishes and expectations are discussed. The surgeon examines the structure of the nose, clarifies any functional problems and draws up an individual treatment plan.

  2. Step 2

    Before surgery

Preparing for the procedure. Before the operation you receive instructions on preparation, for example on stopping certain medicines that increase the risk of bleeding and on avoiding nicotine and alcohol.

  3. Step 3

    Day of surgery

The surgical procedure. The operation is usually performed under general anaesthesia and, depending on its extent, takes approx. one to three hours. The incisions are placed as inconspicuously as possible.

  4. Step 4

    The weeks that follow

Aftercare. After the operation you should take it easy for a few days. Swelling and bruising are normal and usually subside within two weeks. In the first weeks, regular follow-up appointments are necessary to monitor the healing process.

  5. Step 5

    After several months

Follow-up checks. The final result only shows after several months, when the swelling has completely subsided.

What does the result depend on?

The result of a nose correction cannot be guaranteed. It depends, among other things, on the following factors:

  1. Anatomical starting situation and healing: The individual anatomical conditions and healing influence the result.

  2. Realistic expectations: In the consultation it is discussed which changes are possible and where the limits lie.

  3. Individual planning: The procedure is tailored to your wishes and your ethnic features.

  4. Aftercare: Follow the instructions after the operation and attend the follow-up appointments.

What limitations and risks are there?

As with any operation, adjusting Arab nose shapes involves risks and limitations:

  1. Swelling and bruising: They usually subside within two weeks; in some cases it takes longer for the swelling to go down completely.

  2. Scarring: Even with careful placement of the incisions, conspicuous scars can occur in rare cases. This depends on individual healing and the position of the incisions.

  3. Infections: There is a low risk of infection. Hygiene and following the instructions after the operation reduce this risk.

  4. Dissatisfaction with the result: The result may differ from your expectations, for example due to individual differences in healing.

  5. Breathing difficulties: In rare cases, breathing difficulties can occur after a nose correction, especially if the structure of the nose has been changed substantially. A further correction may then become necessary.

Your surgeon will inform you about all possible complications before the procedure.

What does the adjustment of Arab nose shapes cost in Düsseldorf?

Every procedure is planned individually; the costs depend on which techniques are combined, for example whether implant material or the body’s own tissue is used and whether a functional correction is included. After your consultation at Klinik am Seestern, you will receive a no-obligation treatment offer. Financing is possible through our financing partner; more about this under Financing your treatment.

What should I look out for when choosing a surgeon?

  1. Experience: The surgeon should have experience in ethnic rhinoplasty. In the consultation, ask about experience with the planned procedure.

  2. Qualification: Find out about the surgeon’s specialist qualification.

  3. Trust and communication: The surgeon should take time for your questions, convey realistic expectations and inform you comprehensively about the procedure and aftercare.

  4. Clinic and equipment: Look for modern equipment and hygienic standards in the clinic.

Deutsches Nasenzentrum® at Klinik am Seestern is headed by Dr. med. Michael Bromba. Arrange your appointment for a no-obligation, personal consultation in Düsseldorf.

Frequently asked questions

When does German statutory health insurance pay for a nose correction?

If the operation is necessary because of a functional disorder of the nose, private health insurance or Beihilfe (German civil service allowance) may cover part of the costs. This does not apply to the aesthetic part of the nose correction. Please discuss this with your private health insurance or Beihilfe. For people with statutory insurance, reimbursement by the German statutory health insurance fund may be possible if there is a medical indication. You will receive further information in your personal consultation.

How painful is nose surgery and how long is the nose swollen?

Any pain that occurs can be treated with accompanying medication. Swelling and bruising under the eyes are possible and usually subside largely by the time the cast is removed.

How long is the stay in the clinic for a nose correction?

That depends on the extent of the procedure. As a rule, you can leave the clinic one day after the correction; in individual cases you stay for a second night for observation. Smaller measures can be carried out as an outpatient.

How should I behave straight after a nose correction, how long do I have to wear a cast and when can I return to sport?

In the first one to two weeks, wear the plaster splint applied straight after the correction, with an adhesive or acrylic dressing. Avoid nicotine, sunbathing and sport during this time. Wash your hair with your head bent forward. In the first six weeks after the nose correction you should also refrain from wearing glasses.

How long will I be signed off sick after nose surgery?

That depends on the type of procedure, for example on whether only the nose tip is corrected, the nose is straightened or a comprehensive nose correction is carried out. In most cases you are unable to work for 14 days, in exceptional cases somewhat longer. Your treating doctor will discuss with you what time off work to expect in your case.
