Treatments: hair

  • Hair transplant

Your own hair follicles are taken from the donor area at the back of the head and transplanted into thinning or bald areas.

  • FUE hair transplant

With the FUE method, the hair follicles are taken individually from the donor area, without a strip of skin and without a linear scar.

  • FUT hair transplant

With the FUT method, a narrow strip of skin is taken from the back of the head and divided into individual hair follicles under the microscope.

  • Scalp micropigmentation

Fine colour pigments are placed into the scalp to make thinning hair look denser, without a surgical procedure.

  • PRP hair therapy

A plasma concentrate obtained from your own blood (Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP) is injected into the scalp, on its own or in addition to a hair transplant.

Hair treatments in Düsseldorf: consultation, treatment and aftercare in one place

Consultation room of the clinic
Consultation room

Your hair treatment takes place at Klinik am Seestern in Düsseldorf, from the first consultation to the follow-up appointments afterwards. In the specialist clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery, we carry out hair transplants under sterile operating conditions, and scalp micropigmentation and PRP hair therapy in our treatment rooms. All hair treatments are outpatient.

The clinic is on the left bank of the Rhine in Lörick, in the Am Seestern office district near the B7. The U77 runs directly from the main station to the Am Seestern stop, and there is free parking on site. This makes the appointments after the treatment, such as the check-up the day after a hair transplant or the further sessions of scalp micropigmentation, easy to reach from all over Düsseldorf, from Meerbusch, Neuss and the surrounding area.

Hair treatments at Klinik am Seestern: which procedure is the right fit?

Which procedure is suitable for you depends on your hair situation and your expectations. In a hair transplant, your own hair follicles are taken from the donor area at the back of the head, which is little or not at all affected by hereditary hair loss, and transplanted into thinning or bald areas, using the FUE or the FUT method. Scalp micropigmentation makes the hair look denser without a surgical procedure, also where a hair transplant is not an option. PRP hair therapy uses a plasma concentrate from your own blood.

Two methods of hair transplant and two treatments without surgery: how they work and what sets them apart.

Diagram of the FUE hair transplant: the back of a head with individual extraction sites in the dense ring of hair below the thinning top of the head

01FUE hair transplantSingle extraction

The hair follicles are taken individually from the donor area at the back of the head using fine hollow instruments and inserted into the thinning or bald areas shortly afterwards. There is no linear scar; a pinpoint micro-scar remains at each extraction site, which is usually hidden by the surrounding hair.

Durationabout 5 to 8 hours
Anaesthesia
local
Back out among people
after 1 to 2 weeks
Sessions
usually 1 to 2 possible
To bear in mind
The back of the head is shaved for the extraction.

02FUT hair transplantStrip method

A strip of skin about 1 to 1.5 cm wide is taken from the ring of hair at the back of the head, and trained hair transplant technicians divide it into individual grafts under stereo microscopes. The extraction site is closed in such a way that hair can grow through the scar.

Duration3 to 6 hours
Anaesthesia
local
Back out among people
after 2 weeks
Sessions
usually 3 to 4 possible
To bear in mind
A narrow, linear scar remains.

03Scalp micropigmentationwithout surgery

Fine, biodegradable colour pigments are placed into the scalp and imitate short hair stubble. This makes thinning hair look denser, hairlines stand out more clearly and scars become less noticeable. The effect is visible directly after the treatment and lasts for several years.

Duration1 to 3 hours per session
Anaesthesia
none or local
Back out among people
after 2 to 3 days
Sessions
usually 4, at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks
To bear in mind
The pigments break down and need to be refreshed.

04PRP hair therapyPlasma from your own blood

From 8 to 10 ml of your blood, a plasma concentrate is obtained in a closed system and injected into the scalp with a fine needle. It is intended to stimulate regeneration around the hair follicles, on its own or in addition to a hair transplant.

Durationabout 20 minutes
Anaesthesia
none or local
Back out among people
immediately
Sessions
on its own at least 5 to 6, with a hair transplant 3 to 4
To bear in mind
A possible effect only becomes apparent over a longer period.

Your path to hair treatment at Klinik am Seestern

This is how a hair treatment proceeds at Klinik am Seestern in Düsseldorf, from the consultation to the check-up:

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

Your consultation. In the consultation, our doctors assess your hair situation and estimate how your hair loss is likely to develop further. You can book your appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Before the treatment

Your treatment plan. Before a hair transplant, you go through the treatment plan, including the marked hairline, with your doctor one last time. For scalp micropigmentation, we choose the pigment shade that suits your type together with you.

  3. Step 3

    Treatment day

Outpatient. A hair transplant is carried out under local anaesthesia and takes 3 to 6 hours with the FUT method and 5 to 8 hours with the FUE method. A PRP treatment takes about 20 minutes, and scalp micropigmentation can usually be carried out without anaesthesia.

  4. Step 4

    The weeks that follow

Aftercare and further sessions. If you wish, we will see you the day after your hair transplant for a check-up and a medical hair wash. Scalp micropigmentation and PRP hair therapy are repeated at intervals.

  5. Step 5

    After about a year

The follow-up appointment. The result of a hair transplant can be assessed after 10 to 12 months. With scalp micropigmentation, we decide together after one to one and a half years whether a refresh makes sense.

What do hair treatments cost in Düsseldorf? Costs and financing

The cost of a hair treatment depends on the procedure and the extent of the treatment. A hair transplant with the FUE method usually requires a larger, healthy and dense donor area and takes more time. The costs are therefore somewhat higher than for FUT with the same number of grafts. PRP hair therapy is available from €400. Following your consultation, we will prepare a no-obligation treatment quote for you. Financing is possible through our financing partner; more on this under Financing your treatment.
