What is RENUVION®?
Slack skin on the abdomen, legs or buttocks can have various causes. Besides the natural ageing process, substantial weight loss or body-contouring treatments such as liposuction can also cause parts of the body to become slack or the skin to no longer lie smooth. Many people affected find this bothersome.
Previously, a further operation for surgical skin tightening was often necessary in such cases, for example following liposuction. That means additional effort, additional risks and additional costs. With RENUVION® technology, skin on the legs, arms, buttocks or back, but also on the neck and décolleté, can be treated minimally invasively. Whether the treatment can replace surgical tightening depends on the degree of skin slackness.

How does RENUVION® differ from other procedures?
Compared with other procedures using thermal energy, such as laser or radiofrequency, RENUVION® is intended to deliver the energy in a particularly targeted way: the connective tissue is heated precisely, and the tissue can cool down again within fractions of a second. Skin tightening with RENUVION® explained clearly
RENUVION® can be used as a stand-alone minimally invasive treatment for skin tightening, or immediately after liposuction in the same procedure. After liposuction, the fine RENUVION® hand piece of about 4 mm is inserted through the same puncture sites that were previously used for the Vibrasat PRO cannulas to suction out the fatty tissue. No additional incisions are therefore necessary.
The helium plasma jet heats the tissue directly beneath the skin. This is intended to make the tissue contract and to stimulate the body’s own formation of new collagen, which is important for longer-lasting tightening.

How does the treatment proceed?
The duration of the treatment depends on the area and is usually about 20 to 40 minutes. A change in the skin usually shows after about 6 weeks, after which the appearance of the skin may continue to change. The final result can be assessed after about 6 months, when the skin has regenerated and formed new collagen.

What results can be expected with RENUVION®?
RENUVION® is suited above all to moderately slack skin. In combination with liposuction, the treatment can in some cases make surgical skin tightening unnecessary. As no large incisions are necessary, only small scars form at the puncture sites. For severely slack skin and extensive findings, surgical tightening is often the more suitable method. I had my appointment at the practice for a consultation about my lipoedema, and I really want to leave a review even though I haven't had any surgery there yet. The reason is that this was the first time I felt truly taken seriously during an examination of my lipoedema.
