Thigh lift in Düsseldorf

The body preferentially stores fat reserves in the thighs, and the skin loses firmness with age or after substantial weight loss. A thigh lift removes excess skin and fatty tissue. You discuss how the incisions run in a consultation with our doctors in Düsseldorf.

Thigh lift in Düsseldorf: consultation, surgery and aftercare in one place

Consultation room of the clinic
Consultation room

Your thigh lift takes place at the Klinik am Seestern in Düsseldorf, from the first consultation to the check-up appointments afterwards. The specialist clinic for plastic and aesthetic surgery has its own operating theatres and patient rooms: you are advised and operated on in the place where you also spend the night after the procedure and where you return for aftercare.

The clinic is on the left bank of the Rhine in Lörick, in the Am Seestern business district near the B7. The U77 runs directly from the main station to the Am Seestern stop, and there is free parking on the grounds. This also makes appointments after the operation easy to reach from all over Düsseldorf, from Meerbusch, Neuss and the surrounding area.

Why does the skin on the thighs become loose?

Even regular exercise and a healthy diet cannot stop the natural ageing process. Over time, the skin loses elasticity and becomes loose. This also becomes visible on the thighs, especially on the inner sides.

When a thigh lift can make sense

Substantial weight loss can also lead to loose skin, because the skin often does not fully retract afterwards. It is also not uncommon for skin irritation to develop because the skin rubs together when walking. In these cases, a thigh lift may be an option. Discuss your wishes and ideas with your treating doctor and go through the procedure in detail. A detailed medical briefing is particularly important to us.

The treatment can be combined with liposuction, for example for saddlebags, or with tightening of the buttock skin (body lift). We will also advise you on this.

Aims of a thigh lift

  • More balanced proportions through removal of excess skin and fat pads
  • Firmer contour of the hip, buttock and thigh areas
  • Less skin irritation from skin rubbing together, and easier personal hygiene

What happens in a thigh lift?

In a thigh lift, excess skin on the thighs is removed in order to tighten the contour of the legs. Depending on the initial findings, there are various options for the incision, which is chosen to be as scar-sparing as possible. The condition of the thighs and your personal ideas are decisive. Already in the first consultation, you find out which incision is suitable for you, how you can support wound healing and what you should pay attention to after the procedure.

In the groin or on the inner side

Which incision is an option depends on the condition of your thighs and on your ideas. You find out already in the first consultation.

If only a little skin is in excess on the upper thigh, an incision in the groin crease is sufficient. The scar then lies where it is usually covered by clothing.

If more skin is in excess, the incision additionally runs along the inner side of the thigh. This scar too is placed so that it is as inconspicuous as possible; it cannot be avoided entirely.

Your schedule at the Klinik am Seestern

This is how a thigh lift proceeds at the Klinik am Seestern, from the consultation to exercise:

  1. Step 1

    Beforehand

Consultation. In the first conversation, you go through the procedure in detail with your doctor and find out which incision is suitable for you. You can book your appointment online.

  2. Step 2

    Day of surgery

The procedure. The thigh lift takes 2 to 3 hours and is carried out under general anaesthesia.

  3. Step 3

    Day 1 to 2

Home. After 1 to 2 days you go home. Have someone collect you; driving yourself is usually not yet possible then.

  4. Step 4

    Weeks 1 to 2

Moving carefully. Your movement is still somewhat restricted; our team has shown you in the clinic how to move more easily in everyday life. After 1 to 2 weeks, you are usually back out among people.

  5. Step 5

    Weeks 2 to 3

Thread removal. The threads are removed.

  6. Step 6

    Weeks 4 to 6

Rest, then exercise. For about 4 weeks you avoid exercise, and you wear the compression garment for 6 weeks. You discuss at the check-up appointments when you can train again.

What do I need to bear in mind after a thigh lift?

To support healing, you wear a compression garment for 6 weeks after the procedure. It keeps the tissue in shape and reduces swelling, so that the scars can heal better. In the first 1 to 2 weeks, your movement is somewhat restricted. During your inpatient stay at the Klinik am Seestern, our team shows you how you can make movements easier in everyday life. Give your body about 4 weeks of rest after the procedure and avoid exercise during this time, until the scars have healed. At the check-up appointments, you discuss with your treating doctor when you can exercise again.
