Your facial procedure takes place at Klinik am Seestern in Düsseldorf, from the first consultation to the follow-up appointments afterwards. Facial surgery at Klinik am Seestern: which procedure suits you?
Hooded eyelids and eye bags make the eye area look tired, over the years the cheeks and neck lose firmness, or the nose, ears and chin do not match the proportions of the rest of the face. Which procedure is an option, you clarify together with your doctor after an examination. On request, procedures can be combined, for example lifting the upper and lower eyelids in one operation.

01Upper eyelid liftfor hooded eyelids
After the eyelid has been measured precisely, a strip of excess skin and, if necessary, fatty tissue is removed from the upper eyelid. The incision runs in the crease of the eyelid.
After the lower eyelid has been measured precisely, a strip of excess skin and, depending on how pronounced it is, also fatty and connective tissue is removed. The suture is placed just below the lash line.
Depending on the starting situation, individual areas of the face or the whole face are tightened, including skin, connective tissue and muscle. In a more extensive procedure, the incision runs along the hairline at the temples, around the ear to the nape of the neck, so that the scars are hidden as far as possible.
Which technique is suitable depends on where on the nose the operation is performed: only inside (closed technique) or also outside (open technique), on the soft tissue or also on the bone. A nose correction can also improve nasal breathing.

Through a small incision behind the ear, near the groove between the ear and the head, the ear cartilage is exposed. With the frequently used suture method, specifically placed stitches hold the ear in its new position closer to the head.
A prominent chin is reshaped at the bone; a receding chin is moved forward by shifting the bone or with a chin implant. In most cases the operation is performed through the oral cavity, and the incision is then inside the mouth.

Day of surgery
The procedure. Depending on the procedure, we operate under local anaesthesia, twilight sedation or general anaesthesia. After an upper eyelid lift, ear correction or chin correction you usually go home the same day; otherwise you stay in the clinic for one or two nights.
Step 4
The first few days
Cooling and taking it easy. Swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness are possible in the first few days and are usually temporary. Cooling counteracts the swelling.
Step 5
After 1 to 2 weeks
Check-ups and stitch removal. You come to Klinik am Seestern for the check-up appointments, at which the stitches are removed unless they dissolve on their own. Depending on the procedure, you are back out among people after 4 to 5 days up to 2 weeks.
Step 6
Weeks 4 to 6
Sport and sun. Depending on the procedure, sport is possible again after 4 to 6 weeks, and after a chin correction after three months. You avoid sunbathing and the solarium in the first few weeks; your doctor will tell you for how long.

Which facial procedures are outpatient?
Upper eyelid lift, ear correction and chin correction are usually outpatient procedures, and you go home the same day. After a lower eyelid lift you usually stay one night in the clinic, after a nose correction or a facelift one to two nights.
Where are the scars?
The incisions are placed so that the scars are as inconspicuous as possible: for the upper eyelid lift in the eyelid crease, for the lower eyelid lift just below the lash line, for the ear correction behind the ear, for the chin correction usually inside the mouth and for the facelift at the hairline and around the ear. How the scars look later also depends on individual wound healing.
Can I combine several procedures?
Often yes. Upper and lower eyelid lifts can be combined in one operation, and a combination with a facelift is also possible. With a chin correction, a small liposuction can treat a troublesome double chin at the same time. Whether a combination makes sense in your case is something we clarify in the consultation.

I had my appointment at the practice for a consultation about my lipoedema, and I really want to leave a review even though I haven't had any surgery there yet. The reason is that this was the first time I felt truly taken seriously during an examination of my lipoedema. Dr. Witt was very friendly and professional from the start, and at the same time incredibly pleasant and humane. He took an exceptional amount of time, examined me very thoroughly and answered all my questions in detail. He is incredibly respectful and explains realistically what could be done and how the whole process would work. I found it particularly positive that at no point did a hectic or unpleasant mood arise. You never had the feeling of being “brushed off” or being under time pressure. Instead, the whole atmosphere was calm, relaxed and trusting. Dr. Witt was very committed, photos were taken of the affected areas and every possible treatment was explained in an understandable way. Dr. Witt explained everything in detail, yet never came across as complicated or distant. Although he is an absolute specialist in his field, I felt at all times that I could speak openly and ask any question. It felt more as if I had been a patient there for a long time. It was also particularly important to me that I never felt pushed towards an operation. It is still not at all clear whether I will have my operation at all, and yet I was taken incredibly seriously and treated with respect. That is exactly what built so much trust in me. I would also very much like to mention the lady at reception, Marris, in a positive way. She was super polite, had a very pleasant and calm manner and immediately gave me a good feeling. Although it was almost 5 p.m. and the end of the working day was approaching, she was incredibly friendly to me and did not seem at all annoyed or stressed. It is precisely such little things that make a huge difference to me personally and reinforced my positive overall impression of the practice. The practice itself is also absolutely impressive. It is extremely modern, high-quality and stylishly furnished. You feel more as if you are entering a luxury hotel than a traditional doctor's practice. Everything seems very well thought out, calm and professional. The organisation around the appointment was also excellent. Even before the appointment, communication was always very friendly, quick and professional. Questions were answered immediately and the whole process seemed perfectly organised. I was also allowed to park in the clinic's car park, which was an enormous relief since everything in the area was completely full. Although it was already later in the afternoon, Dr. Witt even personally saw to it that enquiries were made internally about my question regarding costs. Shortly after I had left the practice, I already received all the information by email. That too simply shows how professionally and attentively they work there.
